Ici… suis là

LaughCrivens, I’m finally set up in the new upstairs room!  It really is cosmic up here.  I’ve rigged up the PC to my stereo speakers so they’re acting as the rear section of my surround sound rig.  I’ve also now got wireless broadband… oh the joy.  Given that there’s an en suite cludgie, I really see no reason why I should ever leave this room… ever.

The only problems are as follows:

  1. The computer’s a bit buggered… it’s having problems turning on and only works one time in ten.
  2. The wardrobes still aren’t finished.
  3. DUST.
  4. Not a lot of storage space.

But, these really aren’t that significant.  Jeez, how good is that Arctic Monkeys single?  Number one in the national charts!  Blimey… proof that we’re on our way back up.

Get off the road

I have decided to support a cause:

4x4warningStop Urban 4×4s!

It seems like a fairly innocuous cause to become allied to, but it might do something to anger the selfish, vulgar, lazy cows with blonde highlights and sunglasses who have nothing better to do every day than cruise around to have lunch with their equally vacuous friends and pick their rotten little brats up from school and hog the road.  So it’s good.

IKEA… lovely

IkeaHave been to IKEA for the new room and, I’m proud to say, have now erected my first ever item of flat pack furniture.  It is an Aspelund bedside table and it looks surprisingly like this: Aspelund_bedside_table

I was never the best at woodwork at school.  Mr Hall once had to take a break from his Christian rock to help me plane my disastrously mangled mirror frame and I still managed to ruin the fucker.  However, my recent effort at assembly has pleased me.

IKEA is an awesome place.  Not awesome, necessarily, in the parlance of our times, but it inspires awe in me.  Dad and I had to lug some seriously hefty furniture around and we had problems getting it into the boot, but by bending the mattress we solved that little teaser.  It may have broken it, but tha’s ok!

The best part of the day was getting a 75p hotdog (yes, 75p).  It was YUMMY SCRUMMY!  The mustard was just like Mautner’s Kremser Senf in Vienna.  Mmmmm.

The morning after…

FirebrandWell, it was my birthday party last night, and a splendid one it was too.  Got some QUALITY pressies from the guys ‘n’ gals, including an awesome green t-shirt, some ace DVDs and CDs, books, a skeleton that grows in water (!) and other assorted stash.

A big thank-you to everyone who came.  It was much appreciated and I hope you had a good time.  The clean-up didn’t take very long, especially with the skivvy (Alison) to help and I’m looking forward to some quality time spent enjoying the haul.

Alison’s off back home tonight for a few days as her pops is retiring and wants to celebrate.  She’s taking the sleeper train, which I associate with some romantic notion of late night murder mysteries… I’m a little bit jealous.

Excitingly, I purchased a keg of Firebrand Great British Beer (5% ABV) for general consumption last night.  After initial foam and explosive incidents, the booze settled down nicely and many of us partook from the fine contraption.  Five litres really doesn’t go a long way at a party, but for £10.99, it’ll be excellent value for home-based sessions in the future.  Pleasingly, there was little or no trace of metal in the sup, making it an excellent purchase.  Top marks.

Edit: Just read that the above beer is an own-brand brew from Threshers off licenses.  Good on them!
